Delight for Carp Specialist

Posted by Jack Palmer on 21st November 2017 in Blogging |
...Declining air temperatures and longer nights have acted as a widely expected deterrent for many local anglers.  Despite this, some excellent local catches have been recorded over the past fortnight – none more so than from specimen Carp angler Josh Black who netted an impressive four Carp during a weekend session on Rackerhayes’ Dores pond, including the current largest fish known to be owned by the club, the ‘Big Ghostie’ which topped the scales at 33lb 1oz.  Further, NAFA chairman Ian Powell - as he puts it - ‘had an hour’ on Key Transport Lake and netted a Perch no smaller than 2lb 10oz on a small live bait, another massively impre...

Only last week, local pleasure anglers John and Liam Dore bagged an impressive combined total of 9 Carp from Rackerhayes' Wheel Pond up to the 9lb mark in a short afternoon session. Furthermore, reports of predatory species catches are on the up, with many of Newton's waters producing an increasing number of Pike as the cold weather sets in. Sunday marked the annual NAFA Bonus Classic match on Bradle...

...Members of Newton Abbot Fishing Association have enjoyed another week of fine success with local catches on the up as cold temperatures have finally settled in. Widespread reports of Carp and Bream bags have been witnessed over recent weeks, with none more notable than specimen Carp angler Lee Dore's haul of 5 double-figure Carp from Rackerhayes' Dores pond during a night session last weekend. Further, Jay Jay Durdu's net of 7 small Carp from Wheel pond in a short afternoon session last Friday failed to go unnoticed, a superb winter catch on the pole feeding 6mm pellets. Bailiff Mike Smith sacked 5 large Skimmers and 5 small Carp from Wapperwell last Sunday afte...

Win for Ions

...The Christmas months are often the quietest ones on the angling front, but the same cannot be said for Newton Abbot Fishing Association and its members. Widespread reports of excellent catches and impressive match results have been recorded, with the club’s annual Christmas Open being won by Brendan Ions from peg 21 on Rackerhayes’ Wheel Pond with an impressive weight of 19kg 400g of mainly Carp caught on the long pole, the largest of an impressive string of weights from Wheel on the day. Bradley Pond was won convincingly by Gary Webber from peg 23 with 6kg 550g of large Skimmers fishing a groundbait feeder with pinkies on the hook.  Jack Palmer took th...
