20th to 28th July on the Newton Abbot Fishing Association Waters

Take a Friend Fishing

NEWTON Abbot Fishing Association has been chosen as one of only three clubs in the South West to work in partnership with the Angling Trust.

"Remember when a friend or family member took you fishing when you were young or just starting out?" asked NAFA official Ian Donaldson.

"We bet everyone has experienced a memorable session or two like that – sharing the bank with someone else is always more fun."

"With the Take A Friend Fishing campaign there is the chance to take someone for free."

"If you make their day an enjoyable one, you should have another person to go fishing with for life."

Tickets and licences for NAFA are available from us at Tackle Trader, Wharf Road, Newton Abbot, TQ12 2DA

Don't forget you need a rod licence if you over 12 years old, free one-day rod licenses are available during TAFF. Visit www.takeafriendfishing.co.uk for more details.

Free fishing is available at a number of waters, including NAFA for members and newcomers.

"If you are already a NAFA member just show your membership card/ticket and ask for a free day ticket under the TAFF scheme," said Donaldson.

"If you are not a member buy a one-day ticket and get a second free for your friend."

The Trust will work with the club to develop fishing programmes, competitions and support bids to gain funding to improve facilities on club waters for members.

NAFA already has a strong relationship with the Environment Agency in the area, but the Association's Committee sees this as an exciting opportunity to work with the Angling Trust. One of the first initiatives is Take A Friend Fishing Week between July 20-28.
