It’s blog day everyone, and I’m so excited. At least I was when I started writing this 14 days ago. It’s been a good couple of weeks for fishing, the local matches have been a success with Dean stealing the show more than once on the wheel pond silvers. Silver specialist Jay Jay Durdu has been bagging some bream on Dores, and in other spheres carp have been caught, most notably from Dave Rendall on Dores, having 8 in a session. This week marks the beginning of the Tackle Trader blog, new to us all, unlike Mike Smith’s patterned shorts. August is always a tough time for fishing, but the local lakes have fished well nonetheless. It's been great to see some many of our customers over the last few week, thank you for your support and patience during this transition to the "new normal"  Newton Abbot Fishing Association has offered it's members a breath of fresh air since re-opening it's waters a few weeks ago. Local anglers have jumped at the chance to get back on the bank, with a string of impressive catches being reported on NAFA waters. After two months away, NAFA was delighted to welcome members back into their waters this week. Reports of big catches have been flying in from everywhere, with Jay Jay Durdu’s 24lb Common Carp from Island Pond the pick of the bunch. Today has been another productive day, with Gary Webber netting 5 tench and a bream from the back waters of Island Pond and Steve Underhill landing a beauty of a carp which topped the scales at 24lb from the same area. Evening all. If anyone is looking for some good news in light of the corona crisis, then you will be pleased to hear that Tackle Trader remains OPEN for the time being. We last night sent out a message to all of our customers reassuring you that we would also be happy to bring products out to your cars if you would rather not come into the shop, and that deliveries are still going ahead as normal. As of this evening, nothing has changed. It’s also worth noting that despite the water levels being high on all of our NAFA waters that they are fishing very well. On Saturday 4th August Newton Abbot Fishing Association is holding its annual open day. This is aimed at youngsters who would like to experience fishing but do not really know how.
